Mixing
In the studio, most projects are mixed within Pro Tools to take advantage of automation and software plug-ins available (see Recording Software for additional information). For live recording or for those clients that want an "analog" vibe, we use quality mixing consoles from Allen & Heath and Soundcraft.
To help shape the sound and create a cohesive mix that works, we offer a number of outboard signal processing devices from top names like
Focusrite, t.c. electronic, Presonus and Behringer.
Monitoring
The ability to accurately hear what you are mixing is critical. We use near-field monitors from Event and Alesis. Acoustic treatment from Auralex minimizes room interaction problems that can color the sound and we use the dbx Studio Drive Rack to analyze and correct room response problems.
Pro headphones from AKG and Sony are used during recording or to monitor live recordings.
Mastering
We offer the option of adding the final polish to your mixes by providing mastering services. We use the t.c. electronic Finalizer, a multi-band compressor and limiter to get the most from your mixes. We audition final mixes on a high-end audio playback system which includes Martin-Logan electrostatic speakers as well as Adcom and Carver electronics.
